The Marchand Funeral Home in Pepperell, Mass., is in charge of arrangements. Hector Francis Senecal Jr., 84, of Wood Street, Nashua, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 20,2004, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
Mr. Senecal was bom Feb. 16, 1920, son of the late Hector F. and Angeline (Tlircotte) Senecal.
He was a lifelong resident of Nashua. He was the husband of Rita I. (Bedard) Senecal, whom he married on Aug. 9,1939.
The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary’ in August. Mr. Senecal was president of Senecal Beverage Inc., of Merrimack.
He founded the business in Nashua in 1963 and moved to a new facility in Merrimack in 1967. He began his career in the wholesale beverage business with Silver Brothers of Ranchester and Harvard Brewing Co. in Lowell, Mass.
He served on the St. Joseph Hospital Advisory Board, was a director of Bank of New Hampshire and served as a state representative of the National Beer Wholesaler’s Association.
He was a member of the American Legion James E. Coffey Post 3; the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 483; and Nashua Lodge 720, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Mr. Senecal enjoyed flying, landscaping and gardening in his leisure time. He was a world-wide traveler and a NASCAR fan. He was an Army Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War.
After the war, he served with the Air National Guard as a senior pilot and flew cargo planes during the Vietnam War.
He retired from the National Guard after 20 years of service in 1963. Among the many awards and citations he received was the Distinguished Flying Cross, with three Oak clusters. Mr. Senecal was a communicant of the former St. Francis Xavier Church and had served on the parish’s finance committee.
He was educated in Nashua and graduated from North Carolina State College in 1945, where he was a member of the acrobatic team.
Mr. Senecal was predeceased by a sister, Loretta Robbins.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Maureen Senecal of Amherst and Wells, Maine; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ina and Paul Doonan of Chelmsford, Mass., Carla and Richard Avard, and Gina Senecal, all of Nashua; three grandsons and their spouses, Sean and Kathy Doonan of Chelmsford, Christian and Wendy Avard of Brattleboro, Vt., and Justin Walker of Nashua; four granddaughters and their spouses, Nikole and Peter Stokes, and Samantha Senecal, all of Los Angeles, Heather and Norman Wright of Chelmsford, and Anik and Airman David White of Scott Air Force Base, IU.; three greatgrandchildren, Caitlin and Erin Doonan, and Livian May White; a sister, Marguerite Carlson of Encinitas, Calif.; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
