1908-2011 - Lucienne "Lucy" Doucette died peacefully in her sleep in Moncton on Jan. 1, 2011, at the age of 102 years where she was lovingly taken care of by the staff of the Villa Du Repos. She was born on Nov. 25, 1908, in Massachusetts to the late Adolphe Allain and Elizabeth LeBlanc. She was predeceased by her brothers Oscar, Nastace and Ovila of Bedec , and a sister, Flora of Rexton. She was the loving wife of the late Leo Doucette for 50 years. She is survived by a daughter, Jeanette (Allan) Watson of Victoria, B.C., son Vincent of Rexton, and Peter (Rebecca) of Moncton. She is also survived by granddaughters Patricia McColm and Barbra Watson of Victoria, B.C., grandsons Alan (Kim) of Halifax, Ryan (Josee) of Ontario, and Devin in South Korea. Survived also by great-grandson Steven and great granddaughter Meaghan of Victoria, B.C., and by great grandson Michael and great granddaughter Lana of Halifax. She is also survived by a sister, Evanice, of Ontario, and by many nieces and nephews. Lucy was a quiet and gentle woman who dedicated her entire life to her family and church. She was a member of the CWL in Rexton and faithfully helped prepare food for all the church suppers and card parties. Her strong faith and living life by looking at the glass as half full enabled her to live a long, healthy and happy life. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Visitation will take place at Thompson's Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at 9:00 am until departure for the funeral. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Rexton officiated by Father Bernard with interment in the church cemetery. A reception will follow the service at the church hall. Arrangements in care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
